“Preserved For Later”
2025
In my homeland, jars were filled to endure the unknown: for winter, for war, for the long wait through uncertainty.
It was survival.
But some people learn to preserve more than food.
They preserve joy.
They delay rest.
They defer happiness until the right moment comes.
When I lose weight.
When I have a child.
When the child grows up.
When my career takes off.
When I can finally afford it.
When things calm down.
When, when, when…
But what if “when” never comes?
How much of our aliveness have we sealed away, waiting for a day that may never arrive?
Choose presence over preservation.
